Tokyo Game Show 2026 will be the largest edition of the annual Makuhari Messe event since it launched, the Computer Entertainment Supplier's Association (CESA) confirmed on 10 September.
As reported by Inven Global and enduins.com, TGS 2026 will feature 1,138 exhibiting companies across 3,999 booths, with participation drawn from a record-high 53 countries and regions. Of those companies, 540 are based in Japan and 598 come from overseas.
The show runs from Thursday 17 September to Monday 21 September, the first time TGS has ever stretched across five consecutive days. CESA expects around 300,000 visitors across the event.
Business days on 17 and 18 September run 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM local time, while public days open at 9:30 AM, with the final day closing at 4:00 PM.
Venue Layout and New Spaces
The venue footprint covers Exhibition Halls 1 through 11 plus the International Conference Hall at Makuhari Messe, with the newly added TKP Tokyo Bay Makuhari Hall joining the layout this year.
Hall 1 hosts the main Event Stage alongside the debut TGS Creator Lounge Presented by Twitch.
General exhibition booths fill Halls 1 through 8, while Halls 9 through 11 bring together specialised corners covering smartphone games, gaming hardware, esports, AR/VR, gaming lifestyle, and accessibility. The Indie Game Area sits within Halls 9 and 10.
Outdoor spaces host the cosplay area, which opens on the three public days with photo spots and changing facilities, along with food courts positioned south of Halls 4 through 6, Hall 9, and the TKP space.
An interactive 3D floor map is now live on the official TGS website at tgs.cesa.or.jp/2026/map.
Five-Day Stage Programme
The opening ceremony on 17 September begins at 9:30 AM.
That day's programme includes a keynote addressing both TGS's 30-year history and a forward-looking discussion about Japan's games industry in 2056, plus a Twitch-focused live-community stage and the Tottori Game Show segment featuring creator Hajime Tabata and JR West.
On 19 September, talk stages will spotlight major franchises that also celebrate their 30th anniversaries this year.
The Japan Game Awards 2026 Future Division ceremony follows on 20 September, selecting anticipated upcoming titles via attendee votes and judge deliberation. Key programmes will stream globally through official channels.
30th Anniversary Programmes and TGS BOOSTERZ
Because this is TGS's 30th anniversary edition, CESA has added a range of commemorative elements. More than 60 official merchandise items are available at the venue, built around artwork by illustrator Zashikiwarashi and digital artist group ANIMAREAL.
The food court will offer anniversary menu items alongside a mobile ordering system built on LINE Mini App.
The TGS BOOSTERZ ambassador programme is now complete at 30 creator teams. A fourth wave of additions includes musician Takao Suzuki and VTubers Rei7 and Otora.
The second episode of the official news programme TGS NEWS STUDIO aired on 11 September at 7:00 PM, covering venue maps, schedules, anniversary initiatives, and merchandise details.
