The latest content drop is out now with Minecraft Java Edition 26.3 'Wilderness Bound' update released. Bringing more fun things to find during your many adventures - this sounds like another good one.
Want to get Minecraft Java with controller support easily on SteamOS (Steam Deck / Steam Machine)? We have a full guide just for you! It continues running very nicely with this update.
It's not just interesting for the new content added in, but on a technical level they've made some nice improvements behind the scenes with SDL3 now as well for this release.

- Added Poplar Trees.
- Added fallen Poplar Trees.
- Added Red Poplar Leaves, Orange Poplar Leaves, and Yellow Poplar Leaves blocks.
- Added Poplar wood set.
- Added Shelf Mushrooms.
- Added Red Shrubs.
- Added Abandoned Camp structures.
- Added new Explorer Maps.
- Added Cushions.
- Added Straw Beds.
- Added Wool Stairs and Wool Slabs for all Wool blocks.
- Added Concrete Stairs and Concrete Slabs for all Concrete blocks.
- Players in spectator mode can now interact with portals to teleport.
- Improvements to Realms, including the ability to create and manage Invite Codes.
- Added Gothic language support.
- On Linux systems, the game will now use and prefer Wayland natively if available.
- Minecraft now uses SDL3 instead of GLFW for window management, input, and platform integration.
- Keyboard input now uses SDL scancodes for physical key positions and SDL keycodes for layout-dependent text editing shortcuts.
By the time I actually decide to properly go back for another run through Minecraft, it's going to be such a different world. I haven't played it properly for years at this point - there's so much new. I have to admit, Microsoft have been pretty good owners of Mojang just letting them continue doing their thing for so long.
