This “IR” version includes an IR transceiver compatible with pokewalker, as well as upgraded RAM, a USB-C port and the ability to load NDS ROMS compressed to .ndz files. At about $10 more than the original, this is a cool upgrade, but (respectfully) not something every DS owner needs. I think the biggest sell is for people looking to interface with the pokewalker. Either way, I’m always happy to see these open source projects evolve!
